Refs are Horrible, Get Over It

I won’t deny it, of course I’ve blamed the refs on a few games where my teams lost. The missed travel call on Pau Gasol in the 2010 NBA Finals (there’s no video for this); Jimmy Butler getting a call on a late Marcus Smart shooting foul to decide the game; Every no-call on every Gronk play ever; Armando Galarraga’s near-perfect game; Every Angel Hernandez call ever. (I could go on.)

The point is, get over it! Its been happening since sports were created. Refs aren’t perfect. They’re humans (sometimes) who are just out their to do a job. What if I came into your job and just screamed at your face? Or better yet, lets send a seven footer to your job to yell at you. Sound good?

A wise man once said not to let the game be within range for the refs decide it. The Rockets are complaining about the Warriors getting calls all the time. James Harden is pissing his pants already and Game 2 hasn’t even happened yet! The Warriors have been in their head since Game 7 of last year’s Western Conference Finals. Did the refs fuck them over in that game? Or did the Rockets choke big time and shoot 7/44 on 3’s? Or go 13/22 on free throws. Yes, Chris Paul was out, but you have possibly the best scorer/flopper in the world, you should win.

Harden lead the league this year in free throw attempts per game at 11. He’s ranked 5th in these playoffs with free throw attempts per game (8.5). What more does he want? One game with calls not going his way and it turns into Armageddon for Houston. What happened against the Spurs in the 2017 playoffs? 10 points in an elimination game?

The Rockets GM Daryl Morey, a grown man, is tweeting out old Steve Kerr articles about bad officiating. There are even reports they audited last years game 7. I don’t know about you, but it’s getting harder and harder to route for such a weak-minded team.

Steph Curry barely gets calls. LeBron its fouled every possession. Giannis gets fouled every time. Harden is just a cry baby who hasn’t been able to get it done.

I love sports and everything about it. Growing up, my father and I shared an unbreakable bond watching all 4 Boston sports teams winning championships. I hope you enjoy the blogs we write as much as we enjoy writing them for you!
