Kawhi Leonard has finally made his choice: the Los Angeles Clippers.
A shock to some, Kawhi has decided to join the team that has been in pursuit of – and connected to – him for roughly one year.
Announced late at night for us on the East Coast (1:53 AM to be exact, shout out to Chris B. Haynes), Kawhi chose the Clippers over the Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors.
However, that was not all.
Out of absolutely nowhere, Woj reported that the Clippers had acquired Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder, suddenly pairing Leonard with another star forward.
The trade for George will include Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, four (4) unprotected first round picks, one (1) protected first round pick, AND two pick swaps. A MASSIVE trade in the grand scheme of things, bigger than the notorious KG/Paul Pierce trade in 2013.
The Clippers now boast a very strong duo with two phenomenal two-way players, as well as a roster with strong depth that includes Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell, Patrick Beverley, Mo Harkless, and possibly Ivica Zubac. With the current state of the Western Conference, the Clippers look like they are ahead of the pack going into next season.
The Clippers went all-in, and suddenly they could be on the verge of taking over the NBA, and Los Angeles, in the next few years.
A truly historic night, and the balance of the league is officially shifted
