Danny Dimes

One of the many joys of sports is the fact that athletes can prove many people wrong.

From media, to fans, and even your own colleagues. In Daniel Jones’ case, it was Baker Mayfield who was doubting him.

“I cannot believe the Giants took Daniel Jones. Blows my mind. … Some people overthink it. That’s where people go wrong. They forget you’ve gotta win”

Baker Mayfield

Going into the season, some picked the Browns as Super Bowl contenders. With the addition of Odell Beckham Jr, Baker Mayfield would have OBJ, Jarvis Landry, and Nick Chubb to throw to/hand-off to. And with a decent-to-good defense, the Browns go as Mayfield goes.

And so far, Mayfield looks like a dud.

But that’s not why I’m writing this. I’m writing this because of the dumb comments Mayfield made before the season began. He roasted the hell out of Jones who hadn’t even seen a real game yet. As an incoming 2nd year player, Mayfield has no right to make comments on another player; and it looks dumber as each game goes. He looks worse than last season.

In the first 3 games of the year, Mayfield has thrown 3 TDs & 5 INTs.

Not too good a start, especially considering the Browns are 1-2 so far. You know who has the same record? The Giants!

After the first two horrendous starts to the season by Eli Manning, the Giants finally benched him for Daniel Jones, making way for Danny Dimes to make his first NFL start yesterday against the ever-disappointing Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After being down by 18 (28-10), Jones and the Giants woke up after Jones said  “Lets fucking score!”

What transpired after that was a thrilling comeback.

The Giants outscored the Bucs 22-3 to get their first game of the season. Jones finished the game with four total touchdowns and 0 INTs.

Look, this is Jones’ first official start, and Mayfield has had a full season of work to go off of. I’m just saying, if you’re going to trash another QB, you better hope he sucks and you’re good.

Simple as that.

And so far, Mayfield has looked like what he thought Jones would be. Then again, it’s only 3 games into the season so roles might be reversed soon, but that remains to be seen.
