We’re Back

Hi everyone!

Remember us? We’re Hold My Drink Sports!

It’s been awhile, and since we’ve taken some time away… well… practically the entire world has changed several times over, with lots of uncertainty still present.

Fredy and myself (Nick) originally stepped away from producing content for the website due to our academic schedules and wanting to dedicate more time to our studies, but we’ve both agreed we are ready to come back and give this venture the attention it deserves. We did not want to give our fans anything less than our best before, and you have our word on that promise moving forward.

As sports have begun to come back in the United States after a months-long pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re ready to share our thoughts and opinions with you yet again. We understand the state of sports in this country is fluid, as seen with multiple MLB teams having to stop playing due to positive cases both within their teams and having played against teams with multiple cases. Where the NBA and NHL seemingly have been successful in containing the virus with their respective bubble concepts, baseball is in a constant day-to-day flux, and with the NFL approaching the beginning of their season – without a bubble – similar problems could soon arise.

All of this could change quickly if cases surge at a national level similar to the spring and safety is hard to come by even with the best protocols and procedures… We are simply in a time of unknowns due to the virus, and that effects everything, including sports.

We also understand the past several months have shed a further light on the never-ending problem of racism in this country. We as a website have said from the start that we wish to focus on sports and do so as a form of escape, but it would be naïve of us not to acknowledge the realities of racism, which effects all of us, including the athletes we cover and cheer for.

Black Lives Matter, and we as a website stand in solidarity with those fighting for equality and justice.

We want to thank our fans that have been with us since the beginning of our journey over two years ago, and we look forward to expanding our fan base in the coming days, weeks, and months.

None of this is possible without our readers and listeners, and we hope you stay with us as we re-emerge from our hiatus.

Over the next few days, I will be writing about the state of sports in respect to the teams in Boston: the Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots.

Fredy is looking forward to bringing his podcast back, and will be writing again as well.

Once again, thank you for your support, and we’re so excited to be back!

Lets go!
