History says the Lakers shouldn’t choose Jason Kidd

Jason Kidd is a candidate for the vacant Lakers head coaching job, joining Tyronn Lue and Monty Williams as reported candidates.

This used to be a prestigious job… but now? It seems like they’ll give it to anyone.

From the Don Pat Riley, to Phil Jackson, the Lakers have had some of the best coaches in NBA history (those two won 9 championships in LA). Hell, lets put the Guru of Go Paul Westhead in there (1 championship in LA). You see that list? Do you really think Kidd deserves to even sniff that list?

Absolutely not.

Magic Johnson Steps Down as Lakers President of Basketball Operations

Who expected this!? No one! Look, he was already doing a bad job, but even then, I didn’t expect him to quit now!

Since 1959, the Boston Celtics have faced the Lakers in the NBA Finals 12 times, most recently in 2010.

It’s a rivalry that helped save the NBA in the 1980s, and was revitalized just a decade ago, as the teams faced each other in the finals twice in three seasons. With a combined 33 championships between the two franchises, the Celtics and Lakers are considered the premier teams in basketball… and now a new battle is ensuing. The NBA is approximately one third through its 2018-2019 season – and since this comes up every year – I figured I would get out ahead of the noise and check up on which conference has the right to claim supremacy so far.

Los Angeles Lakers Season Preview: 4 Factors to Watch for

John W. McDonough/Getty Images

Lights. Camera. Action.

With the Lakers bringing in LeBron James and a supporting cast of NBA vets fit for reality tv, this upcoming season will be nothing short of a movie. What movie genre it will be is nearly impossible to predict. It could be a comedy where the rest of the league laughs as LeBron drags a core of unprepared young players to the eighth seed. A horror film where some of the villains of Lebron’s playoff past attempt to destroy his team from the inside. Maybe this season could be a blockbuster like Creed with this new roster exceeding expectations.

Here are four make or break factors for the 2018-2019 Los Angeles Lakers season. Continue reading “Los Angeles Lakers Season Preview: 4 Factors to Watch for”
