I’m not gonna lie to you, I haven’t been up to date with Celtics basketball or NBA action this season due to working like Kanye before he snapped and turned pro-Trump at a concert. I’m not saying I’m there yet, but man look at these gas prices… All jokes aside, there’s no excuse not watch this game. NONE whatsoever.
8:30 PM at TD Garden will be rocking. The doughy Bostonians will be in full force when the Snake and his Warriors come into town and try to stop this hot streak the Celtics are on.
The Celtics are on a 5-game winning streak that started off against the Raptors after dropping 3 in a row against ass-hair opponents. Yeah, ass-hair. What spot on the ass is your preference.
In the month of January, Jaylen Brown has seemed to have found his rhythm. He’s averaging 13 PPG on 43% from three. The month of January has also been kind to Gordon Hayward (congrats on the baby girl!), as he is averaging 13 PPG on 50% from the field. The bench (which has been a huge concern) and team are slowly coming together; only took 4 months!
This matchup between the greatest team of all-time (Warriors), and the never-ending depth of the Celtics should have been the finals matchup we got last year. With Kyrie and Hayward’s season-ending injuries well before the playoffs, the Celtics were STILL one game away from revisiting the finals after 8 years. Celtics fans had to wait another year, but now there’s no way Boston can’t get to the promised land unless they shoot themselves in the foot. The starters have a clue what their doing, but the bench needs to play at a consistently high level in order to even be on par with the Warriors.
Last years’ regular season series between these Goliaths ended in a 1-1 draw with Steph Curry going off for 49 points in the last regular season meeting, which resulted in a Warriors win. Yet, no finals meeting… but that should change.
Since Kyrie rested against their opponent before the Warriors (Cavs), I will only be talking about the previous 4 games he’s played in during this winning streak. During this streak, he’s averaging 30 PPG and 11 APG on 60% from the field and 56% from three. Fucking disgusting. We’d probably be talking about it more if not for James Hardent, who is absolutely destroying the NBA one stroke at a time (was that was meant to be gross?)
If the Celtics can play the tough, gritty style of basketball they’ve been know for since Thomas had the Garden rocking, this game will be an absolute must-watch. No more having to worry about LeBron pulling magic out of his ass, but that doesn’t mean this team can be complacent with just being top 2 in the league on paper in terms of talent from coaching to players 1 through 12 on the roster.
As I watch this Jennifer Lopez movie, I’m typing this post thinking, man this game can’t come soon enough. This matchup is more than just a regular season game, a chance for Boston fans to see their team against the greatest NBA team to ever step on the court. Don’t take it for granted because next year, we might not see those motherfuckers being led by the sack-less Kevin Durant. So enjoy! Let’s hope this finals preview will wow audiences not just in America, but around the world!
P.S. If I tried to hype the Warriors and gave you stats, that’d be me beating a dead horse.
